GDP blindness

Multinational American companies had accumulated $2.1 trillion of profits (cash after tax: in practice they have accumulated these $2.1 trillion on top of "reserves", notably the reserves for taxes on profits) outside the U.S. in 2015, up 8% from 2014, itself up 11.8% from 2013…

A recent report priced "eradicating world hunger in 15 years" at an additional $160 annually for each person living in extreme poverty.
The report —by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD), and the World Food Programme (WFP)— acknowledges that progress has been made in recent decades… but 795 million people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy active life.  For a small total $267 billion per year  over 15 years, the report estimates that chronic undernourishment could be a thing of the past by 2030.

That's roughly equivalent to 0.3% of the global GDP,
a very small price to pay to end hunger!
